A team from Kingsbridge helped prepare emergency packages to support families in crisis during a volunteering session at Chichester District Food Bank.
As part of our commitment to encouraging team members to donate their time for good causes, Kingsbridge supports the food bank through donations from staff and visitors to its offices at Tangmere, near Chichester.
To deepen the relationship and find out more about the charity’s work, members of our team donated their time to help out in the run-up to the globally recognised International Volunteer Day which falls on December 5th.
They prepared and packed boxes of supplies containing three days’ worth of food, getting them ready to be distributed to some of the thousands of people who benefit from the food bank’s support each year.
Kate Jerome, Office Manager at Kingsbridge, said: “We felt grateful to have played a small part in that. It was a real eye-opener to see first-hand the amazing work carried out by the team and volunteers every day.”
Chichester District Food Bank is part of the Trussell Trust and operates four centres based in Chichester, Petworth, Midhurst and Selsey. People in crisis are referred to the food bank by a network of more than 200 referrers including community groups, churches, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, and schools.
Marie Wallace, Warehouse Manager, said: “The biggest worry for us is not being able to meet demand, so we hope for a surge in donations in the run-up to Christmas which is traditionally one of our busiest times.
“We are grateful for the time spent by the team from Kingsbridge, and to all those who donate food and offer financial support which are always needed.”
As well as supporting the food bank, Kingsbridge team members volunteer in a number of other ways, including fundraising for the muscular dystrophy charity Duchenne UK, taking part in beach litter clean-ups, and supporting future property industry stars through a partnership with Havant and South Downs College.
Chichester District Food Bank welcomes donations in a number of ways including several drop-off locations around the district. To find out how you can help, see
